April 27, 2017 SEWA establishes Commercial Section to provide genuine water installations with competitive prices

As part of its policy to excel in providing its customers with reliable services, Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA) introduced a Commercial Section at Water Department to provide the customers with genuine products of water installations and save unnecessary wastage of precious water and money.] The SEWA Commercial Department, housed in the Halwan area of Sharjah, will help customers in selecting, buying and installing the right plumbing systems – normal or luxury items – of internationally recognized manufacturers at reasonable rates without being subjected to fraudsters who are bent on making money.

Installation and use of the original products and equipment will help support the idea of rationalizing water consumption between 30 to 50 per cent and save the money and the national wealth.

This was prompted by a commercial fraud noticed by SEWA with a major manufacturer of tools, supplies, and equipment.

The SEWA team from the trade department prepared a comprehensive study on the technical specifications and standards and prepared some guidelines for devices for water to provide the best to its subscribers.

H.E Dr.  Eng. Rashid Al Leem, Chairman of Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority said that the introduction of the commercial department of water management early this year was part of a comprehensive strategy to improve system quality and enable subscribers to obtain highly efficient products and original equipment for rationalisation and reduced global price while keeping the quality in line with the UN goals to achieve sustainable development. This is included as a goal for water sustainability along with the application of the principles of conservation of energy sources to ensure the UN industrial programmes.

This was adopted by the international standards organization under the ISO 50001 certification of SEWA as the first Arab electricity and water authority to adopt these recommendations and apply.

One of the principles of this ISO certification is maintaining the safety and security of installations and the use of the best specifications in hardware and supplies on water, Dr Al Leem said.

Director of Water Management in SEWA Essam Al-Mulla explained that the commercial department began work as of last January and receives customers to meet their needs and providing the best standards at cheaper prices.

He pointed out that the commercial water management section provides a number of normal and luxury products depending on customer specification through the office in Halwan area. The office provides all required instruments such as cutting tools, pipes and water connections that can control water flow and other water products and installation procedures.

Products can be ordered through communication with the water management office in Halwan or through the phone number 06 5021548 or e-mail water.dept@SEWA.gov.ae, Al Mulla added.
