April 30, 2017 190 needy families benefit from the Initiative launched by SEWA & Sharjah Charity to settle the defaulters’ bills

 

Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority announced that 190 bills of needy families amounting to AED 451,000.00 were settled during the last 6 months under the Initiative, named (the light of their life) recently launched by Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority, in collaboration with Sharjah Charity Association, in conjunction with the Year of Giving and as part of their commitment to promote the principles of the social responsibility and the volunteering works.

H.E Dr. Rashid Al Leem, the Chairman of Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority said that the initiative aims to collect funds to pay the consumption bills of needy families who are unable to settle the same in order to avoid the disconnection of electrical, water and gas supplies to their premises and alleviate their suffering as the result of non-payment. That comes in line with SEWA strategies to support and encourage all initiatives that serve and benefit the community and enhance the culture of charity works among the members of the society.

The Chairman of SEWA affirmed the commitment of SEWA to collaboration with other authorities and departments in field of the charity works. The launch of this initiative in collaboration with Sharjah Charity Association, as strategic partner, indicates the growing recognition of the importance of the social responsibility.   He added that the initiative is introduced to help the needy people defaulting in payment of due consumption bills to avoid disconnection of power, water and gas supply to their premises as the result of such default. He expressed his appreciation for keenness of various authorities and departments such as Sharjah Charity Association to sponsor the Initiative.

“Consumption Bills of the eligible cases will be paid from the collected funds to ensure the continuity of power and water supplies to those needy families and eliminate any inconveniency which may occur as the result of their failure to settle such bills” H.E Dr. Al Leem said.

 On other hand, Mr. Abdullah Sultan bin Khadem, the Executive Director of  Sharjah Charity Association praised the outstanding efforts made by SEWA to serve the community and collaborate with Association to support its charity works.

  He indicated that entering of Sharjah Charity Association into cooperation agreements with several educational, security and services entities including Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority come in line with visionary directives of the Association’s Board of Directors under the chairmanship of Sheikh Essam bin Saqar Al Qassimi, Chairman of the Ruler’s Office. He noted that the activities and initiatives made by the Association cover all the categories of the community.

According to Mr. Abdullah Sultan bin Khadem, Sharjah Charity Association has launched several charity works and initiatives to help the needy families on the occasion of the Year of Giving.
