April 27, 2017 SEWA steps up intensified campaign to repair domestic installations and promote water saving kits

 

In collaboration with UAE Women Federation and Sharjah Municipality, Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority (SEWA) launched an intensified campaign to install water saving kits and repair water installations at low-cost houses in several residential areas of the Emirate of Sharjah in conjunction with the world-wide celebrations of the Water World Day and the Year of Giving in UAE. A part of the celebrations took place at Al Majz Water Front in collaboration with the University Committee and Sharjah Investment & Development Authority (Shorouq). Several events focused on the importance of conserving water to contribute to better lifestyles and jobs were organized as part of the World Water day celebrations to highlight the best international practices for reducing water waste and ensuring its sustainability, for generations to come.

On this occasion, H.E Dr. Rashid Al Leem, the Chairman of Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority pointed out that SEWA devoted great attention to the role of the governmental departments and authorities, the charity societies and the organizations of the civil community in promoting the public awareness of the social responsibility. He called upon the government entities and the residents of the Emirate of Sharjah to exert every effort to achieve the targets set by Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority in terms of power and water consumption. He affirmed SEWA’s eagerness to raise the awareness of the government employees about the power and water conservation, provide the saving kits and installation to the premises of the government departments and utilities and organize awareness workshops in this connection.

H.E the Chairman added that SEWA is using the world’s best practices to produce and distribute the vital source of life and uses digital networks to obtain the best international standard as well as the most environment-friendly materials to maintain water quality and follows the best international techniques in pumping stations at the lowest possible pressure to control leaks. SEWA highlighted the importance of water conservation and of rationalizing its use by leading workshops about water resources. The Chairman explained that SEWA continuously organizes awareness programs and innovative initiatives, and presents awards to encourage the community to adopt a positive approach to the rational use of water in their daily lives.

H.E Dr. Rashid Al Leem announced that it SEWA’s strategy to save the water and power consumption by 30%. He said “In line with our vision to promote Sharjah as the Model City of Conservation and become a sustainable world-class utility and spread the conservation clture among the various categories of the society, SEWA is committed to organize consistent conservation drives to ensure the rational use of natural resources and contributing to finding sustainable solutions to limit usage, and achieve sustainable development economically, socially, and environmentally”.

H.E Mr. Thabit Salim Al Turaifi, the Director General of Sharjah Municipality emphasized on the importance of collaboration between the concerned authorities and entities to maintain the civilized image of our smiling emirate and raise public awareness among the various categories of our society. He praised the drive launched by Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority to repair the water installations and install saving water kits in the residential areas of the Emirate. He affirmed the readiness of Sharjah Municipality to take part in the efforts made by SEWA in this efforts.

 Eng. Ghada Juma’a Salim, the Manager of SEWA Conservation Department announced that the campaign launched by SEWA in collaboration with UAE Women Federation and Sharjah Municipality, covered several residential areas including Al Hawma and Umm Khanoor. She added that the works carried out by the concerned teams included the repair of water installations and erection of power and water saving kits with the aim of achieving of 30% deduction in the consumption bills of customers. 

On her part, Sara bin Karan, the Director of Sharjah Women Society affirmed the commitment of the society to enhance the society’s vital role in supporting the community issues including the power conservation issue. She added the Society has recently launched the Initiative of the Clean Energy Pioneers in collaboration with  Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority to promote the public awareness about the water and power issues.
