The allocation for the new projects in 2008 budget which amounts to AED 2,873 million, will cover the following projects:

- AED 665.7 million for Hamriyah Generation & Desalination Expansion project as follows: AED 349.8 for Phase 1 of installation and commissioning of 5 combined cycle gas turbines including the civil works, AED 160 million for Phase 1 of R.O units, AED 138.5 million for installation and commissioning 4 desalination units of 10 mgpd each, AED 17.4 million for construction of fuel tanks, off loading terminal and 220 &132 KV switchgear

- AED 763.3 million for power distribution & transmission projects in Sharjah as follows: AED 120.2 million for expansion of distribution network in Sharjah areas. AED 156 million for construction of 12 X 33 KV substations, AED 30 million for lighting street projects, AED 150 million for construction of 3 X 132 KV substations in Moweleh, Abu Shaghara and Nasseriyah, AED 31.75 million for 132 KV Substation Expansions of Industrial areas 7 & 17 and Nasseriyah, AED 104 million for transmission projects out of which AED 50 million for Wasit 132/220 KV Substation and AED 54 million for additions to Wasit 132 KV Substation, AED 113 million for construction of 132 & 220 KV cables in different areas of Sharjah city, AED 44.4 million for various distribution and transmission projects in Sharjah city.

- AED 65 million for natural gas projects out of which AED 30 million for new gas connections at newly developed commercial and residential areas in Sharjah and AED 35 million for construction of piped natural gas network in Khorfakkan & Kalba.

 - AED 254 million for water distribution projects as follows:AED 30 million for Hamdah ñ Badei 800 mm water main, AED 35 million for Phase one of Hamriyah ñ Saja’a 1200 mm water main, Saja’a Halwan 1200 mm water main and Layyah ñMamzar 800 pipeline, AED 40 million for phase 1 of new storage tanks in Saja’a and Falaj, AED 51 million for phase 1 of new pumping stations n Saja’a, Hamda and Badie, AED 60 million for water distribution network at King Abdul Aziz Road, Layyah ñ Nahda pipe line and phase 1 of water distribution system reinforcement, AED 37.5 million for water new AED million for network developments in areas of Rahmania and Suyouh and AED 1 million for water distribution system in Eastern Zone.

 - AED 174.25 million for electricity projects in Khorfakkan as follows: AED 68.5 million for new F6 gas turbine including civil work, AED 91.25 million for construction of 132 KV S/S, AED 14.5 million for construction of 33 KV S/S and other distribution expansions.

 - AED 117.4 million for electricity projects in Kalba as follows: AED 11.3 million for construction of 132 KV S/S, AED 6.1 million for various distribution expansion projects.

 - AED 34 million for different projects at the Head Office (AED 8 million) and Layyah Generation & Desalination Station (AED 26 million) The budget also includes an allocation of AED 799 million to complete projects of 2007 all of which aimed at fulfilling requirements of nationals and expatriates in the country.
