The Crown Prince of Sharjah
approves an amount of Dhs. 4.399
billion for SEWA's 2007 budget
Pursuant to the directives made
by His Highness Sheikh Dr.
Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi,
member of Supreme Council and
Ruler of Sharjah who devotes
continuous attention and
unlimited support to the
modernization projects
especially the concerned with
infrastructure to enhance the
development in various fields
and in response to his concern
to ensure the best modern living
standards for both nationals and
residents;
H.H Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed
Bin Sultan Al Qassimi, the Crown
Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah
and the Chairman of SEWA’s Board
of Directors endorsed the 2007
budget of SEWA amounting to Dhs
4,399,730,000.
SEWA's 2007 budget was approved
during the meeting of SEWA's
Board of Directors which was
held on 11/1/2007 at the Ruler's
Office under the chairmanship of
H.H Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed
Bin Sultan Al Qassimi, the Crown
Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.
The Board reviewed all subjects
and matters of the Agenda during
this meeting.
At the beginning of the meeting
His Highness the Crown Prince of
Sharjah extended appreciation
and thanks to His Highness
Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed
Al Qassimi, the Ruler of
Sharjah, for the continuous
support and attention devoted by
His Highness to the developing
the infrastructure in Sharjah
through establishing several
projects contributing to the
prosperity and progress of the
Emirate.
He added that His Highness the
Ruler is always concerned in
developing the infrastructures
of the electricity, water and
gas sectors which are considered
as main bases of the
comprehensive development
currently witnessed in the
Emirate of Sharjah.
He extended thanks and
appreciation to the former
members for their appreciated
efforts which they have exerted
during the last period which
participated in the developing
of the operation of SEWA and its
completion of the new projects
which is participating in the
upswings witnessed by the
country bases of which were
anchored by His Highness ruler
of the country – God Bless Him.
He also extended thanks to all
of HE Ali Abdullah
Al-Nooman and HE Ahmed Nasir Al
Fardan for the sincere efforts
which they have exerted during
more than continuous 25 years of
work which played a great role
in the establishment of the
electricity and water department
in 1981 then SEWA in 1995 until
it reached this advanced level
of development and quality which
made it able to face
requirements of the present time
with confidence and ability,
each of them gave the country
without limits during their
tenure of service.
On other hand, Eng. Al Waleed
Bin Khadim, the Director General
of SEWA said: "The endorsement
of this ambitious budget for the
year 2007 comes in line with the
wise directives of His Highness
Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed
Al Qassimi, member of Supreme
Council and Ruler of Sharjah. It
reflects the strong support of
H.H the Ruler to the activities
and projects of SEWA in response
to his concern with fulfillment
to satisfy the requirements of
the daily living for the people.
He pointed out that SEWA pays
consistent efforts to render
distinguished services and
support the overall development
steps under the direction of H.H
the Ruler.
He added that SEWA is always
seeking excellence and achieving
quality in its activities and
projects inspiring its paces in
this field from the directives
and wisdom of His Highness ruler
of the emirate as that all what
fills His Highness’s mind is to
bring all possibilities to
provide prosperity, development
and settlement for a better life
for his people nationals and
expatriates.
His Excellency confirmed that
the new budget for the year 2007
is considered a new addition
which conforms with the
development being witnessed by
the emirate of Sharjah and that
the new projects will
participate in pushing the work
and developing the various
sectors of SEWA and to keep pace
with the development and
prosperity of the country.
He declared that the 2007
budget, amounting to Dhs 4.399
billion, allocates an amount of
Dhs 2,009,486,000 for operating
expenses, running expenses and
the semi capital expenses while
an amount of Dhs 2,390,244,000
which was approved this year
within the 5 years plan :
330 million Dirhams for power
generation projects, 585 million
Dirhams for water production and
desalination project, 441
million Dirhams for the
electricity transmission and
distribution network, 336
million for the transportation
and distribution of water
network, 34 million Dirhams for
street lighting and 63 million
for general administration
projects of the gas distribution
most important of which is 38
million Dirhams to provide gas
to a number of residential areas
and commercial areas and
constructing of distribution
stations and a station for gas
supply to vehicles and 25
million Dirhams to construct gas
networks at Khorfakkan and Kalba
at the Eastern Region and 35
million Dirhams for LCD Project
which includes project of
connecting transmission and
distribution stations with the
center and certain civil works.
30 million Dirhams for projects
of the Sharjah Institute of
Technology of which 20 million
Dirhams to construct classrooms
building for girls section and
10 million Dirhams for a number
of additional works and
infrastructure works in the boys
building, 14.5 million Dirhams
for Zulal water Factory most
important of which 2.5 million
Dirhams to import and erect a
new machine for 5 gallon
container and 8 million Dirhams
for the administration building
and new warehouses at Wasit
region and 30 million Dirhams
for a number of civil works and
buildings and other projects.
The most important new projects
in the field of electricity
generation, transmission and
distribution in addition to
water production, desalination
and distribution over stations
and towns of the emirates are
distributed as follows:

746 million Dirhams for the
water and electricity
projects at the Hemriyah
Generation and Desalination
Station of which 270 million
Dirhams to construct new
units for power generation
with the multi stage system
with production capacity of
240 mega watt in addition to
the civil works, and 494
million Dirhams for water
desalination projects in the
station which includes 232
million Dirhams for stage 1
of the sea water pumping
station and civil works of
the station, 192 million
Dirhams for the import and
erection of new desalination
units with a total
production capacity of 20
million gallons per day and
70 million Dirhams for stage
1 of the civil works for the
water desalination unit and
the construction of water
tank for the water pumping
unit.

121 million Dirhams for
various projects at Layyah
Genaration and Desalination
Station which includes :
first stage of a new unit
for water desalination by
reverse osmosis system of 5
million gallon production
capacity per day and the
necessary civil works for
the same in addition to a
number of projects in the
field of water desalination
and power generation and
civil works in the station.

Electricity transmission and
distribution projects most
important of which : 100
million Dirhams for the
construction of 12 33KV
distribution stations, 55
million Dirhams for cables
132 KV together with laying
in a number of areas in the
city of Sharjah, 53.5
million Dirhams to construct
a 220 KV overhead line from
Hymriah to Al Tai, 104
million Dirhams to add 400 &
630 mm cables, 30 million
Dirhams for street lighting,
12 million Dirhams to
construct a new building for
the general department of
Electricity distribution in
addition to a number of
projects which includes
development of stations and
the line and laying a number
of cables in the various
areas and to construct a
workshop at Saja.

46 million Dirhams for the
projects of electricity
generation, transmission and
distribution at Khorfakkan
and Kalba of the eastern
region in addition to street
lighting and administration
building at Khorfakkan and
some other civil works.

312.9 million Dirhams for
various projects in the
field of production,
transportation and
distribution of water in the
city of Sharjah and
surrounding areas in
addition to 2.865 million
Dirhams to develop the field
of Al Garifa and drill wells
in the present fields and
construction of new water
tank.

33.9 million Dirhams for
various projects in the
field of production and
transportation and
distribution of water at
Khorfakkan and Kalba in the
eastern region in addition
to construction stations,
tanks, administrative
buildings and technical
workshops. the budget
includes a number of other
projects of which 491.56
million Dirhams to complete
projects of 2006 all of
which aimed at fulfilling
requirements of nationals
and expatriates in the
country.
HE extended thanks and

Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qassimi
ruler of Sharjah – God bless
him- for his continued support
to the projects, activities,
programs of SEWA and fields of
its various work all of which
are aimed at the service of the
society and developing and
renovation of the same… and to
fulfill the present and future
requirements of the basic
services for the development
requirements being witnessed by
the country in all fields
indicated that the country by
these achievements and that the
development of SEWA with its
projects, plans, present and
future and its ambitious budgets
are included in this framework.
He also expressed thanks and
appreciation to His Highness
Sheikh Sultan bin Mohamed bin
Sultan Al Qassimi the Crown
Prince and Deputy Ruler of
Sharjah pointing out that the
Board of Directors of SEWA under
his chairmanship has
participated in this development
and achievements by approval of
the plans, programs and
ambitious budgets aimed at the
construction of these vital and
important projects to support
the infrastructure of the
