Under the auspices of His
Highness Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed
Al Qassimi, the Member of
Supreme Council and Ruler of
Sharjah, His Highness Sultan bin
Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qassimi,
the Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler
of Sharjah and Chairman of SEWA
attended the graduation ceremony
of the second batch of Sharjah
Institute of Technology (SIT) on
Monday the 5th November, 2007.
The second batch comprises of
184 graduates out of which 120
graduates acquired BTEC diploma
and 64 graduates acquired City &
Guilds Certificate. 24 graduates
and 5 female students were also
honored as excellent students.
His Highness the Crown Prince,
Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and
Chairman of SEWA extended
congratulations to the
2006/2007 graduates of SIT and
wished them every success in
their future careers.
His Highness expressed his
pleasure for the graduation of
these students who represent a
new effluents of our civilized
and education boom. He praised
efforts made by the academic and
administration staff of SIT
which was established under the
farsighted vision of His
Highness Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed
Al Qassimi, the Member of
Supreme Council and Ruler of
Sharjah. He added that His
Highness the Ruler devotes great
attention and support to the
SIT.
His Highness the Crown Prince of
Sharjah emphasized on the role
of SEWA to prepare and qualify
the youths as per the most
advanced international
standards.
He pointed out that more
specializations and disciplines
were added to the existent ones
to meet the current requirements
of the job market. Thus the
graduates of Sit can make great
contributions to the development
of our society.
He added that the introduction
of the Ladies Division at the
SIT opened more opportunities of
vocational education for female
holders of the Secondary
Certificate who are interested
in advanced professional
qualifications in different
disciplines and specializations.
The graduation ceremony was
started with reciting of
fragrant verses of the Holy
Koran. Addressing the function,
Mr. Malcolm Pickering, the SIT-
Director pointed out that main
mission of the SIT which was
inaugurated by His Highness Dr.
Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi,
the Member of Supreme Council
and Ruler of Sharjah in 2003 is
to offer UK based qualifications
and awards. "The students of the
SIT have shown commitments and
determination demonstrated by
the fact that one hundred and
eighty four young men will
graduate with BTEC National
Diplomas to-day" said Mr.
Pickering.
He pointed out that the
development of Ladies Division
with the SIT has increased the
training opportunities for more
than one hundred and twenty
ladies, giving them
opportunities to improve their
skill in different professional
areas.
The SIT Director announced that
next year with the building of
the fourth custom designed
state-of-the-art building, we
will be able to expand the
offerings to include Commercial,
Retail, Human Resources,
Marketing and Traveling Design.
Ms. Lindsey McPherson, the SIT
Deputy Director (Ladies
Division) said that Sharjah
Institute of Technology is at
the forefront of the
Emiratisation and the up-skilling
of the nationals for the labor
market identifying skills
required and training students
to fil vacancies in the UAE and
Sharjah job market. She pointed
out that the importance of the
SIT Ladies Division is to ensure
a balance of employment between
the male and female nationals in
the workplace. Vacancies occur
in all skills at all levels and
the SIT is endeavoring to fill
these requirements with well
trained skilled nationals both
male and female.
On other hand, Mr. Ahmed Al
Tamimi addressed the function on
behalf of the graduates. He
expressed thanks and
appreciation to the leader of
our scientific and cultural
development march, His Highness
Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al
Qassimi, the Member of Supreme
Council and Ruler of Sharjah,
for the continuous support and
attention devoted by His
Highness to the students and
graduates of the SIT. He added
that this institute was
established by His Highness to
encourage the youths of our
homeland to venture into the
technical and professional
fields and develop their skills.
Thanks to the facilities
provided by the SIT, the
graduates have managed to
acquire advanced professional;
and technical skills.
His Highness the Crown Prince
and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah
presented diplomas and awards to
184 graduates and honor
certificates to the excellent
students. At the end of the
ceremony, a model designed by
the male students and an art
work made by the female students
were presented as memorial
gifts from SIT students to His
Highness the Crown Prince and
Deputy Ruler of Sharjah. |
