In line with SEWA’s Environment
Policy: 50 vehicles converted to
CNG fuel system
|
SEWA has recently
entered into agreement
with Khalifa Al Naboodah
Co. and DHL Courier to
supply and convert 50
vehicles of their fleets
to Compressed Natural
Gas fuel system, out of
which 30 vehicles
belonged to Al Naboodah
Co and 20 vehicles
belonged to DHL.

In this regard a
delegation from Al
Naboodah Co. visited the
CNG filling station at
Halwan area. Eng. Tariq
Rashid Demass Manager of
Directorate of Natural
Gas and a number of
senior engineers and
officials received the
delegation. The members
of the delegation
inspected the various
facilities of the
station. They were
briefed about the
conditions and
specifications of
converting vehicles to
use CNG instead petrol
and the equipment,
compressors required for
conversion and gas
filling systems. The
converted vehicle is
provided with dual fuel
system enable the drive
run the vehicle either
on CNG or petrol firing. |

SEWA introduced the use
of compressed natural
gas as fuel for vehicles
instead of petrol in
February 2005 with the
establishment of the
first CNG filling
station in UAE and Gulf
region. The project is
aiming at making use of
natural gas as
environment friendly
fuel, protecting the
environment against
pollution and
maintaining the public
health. SEWA has already
taken a lead in natural
gas industry by
initiating Sharjah
Natural Gas Distribution
Project to supply piped
natural gas for
domestic, industrial and
commercial purposes in
Sharjah city. |

250 vehicles belonged to
SEWA were converted to
CNG firing system at
Halwan CNG Filling
Station. A number of
vehicles belonged to the
local government
departments and
authorities and
companies as well as
taxis, were also
converted. |
